WE’RE BACK

The trio is back for another year! We’ve chosen to stay close to our roots and carve at Zehnder’s Snowfest in Frankenmuth, Michigan. We will be on the block January 27th – 30th. We always welcome visitors and would love to see your smiling faces 🙂

THE DESIGN

Without fail, last year we began concepting for this year before we were even off the block. As our design took shape, and then was reshaped again and again we had side-line seats to major injustices and violence in the world. Some of it in our own back yard of Flint and Detroit. We turned our faces toward change and looked to how we can make a difference in this new year. Below is a synopsis of our 2016 sculpture:

Over the past year our team has been preoccupied with the negative events of the world. As parents and teachers, we look at what we can do for the next generation. There are the big things and then there are the small. We can teach the world’s children to improve where we’ve failed, to be compassionate and graceful, to have understanding and yet be bold and fight for their rights and the rights of others. We will teach them to stand on our shoulders, to be better than we have been.

Our sculpture depicts an elder facing a youth. The backside of the elder’s head is partially torn away to showing gears turning in his head. He hopes for a better future and a perfected generation as he visualizes what he wants this youth to become. The youth has components of these gears that make up his face. The youth represents a bright future, an investment in the next generation and a learning from past mistakes. As well as hope, love and community. Something we need now more than ever.
